Ghana’s vice president has finally responded to requests from former Ghanaian president John Dramani Mahama for evidence on what the government has used the borrowed money for.
Former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama on his tour of the country insisted that regardless of the excessive indebtedness of the government led by Akufo-Addo, there is nothing to show.
“In four years, the Akufo-Addo government has borrowed more than ¢ 140 billion, so the simple question Ghanaians should ask is: what have they done with the money? Where are the schools, roads, electricity, water, hospitals and ports? ”Mr. Mahama asked during his tour of the Volta region.
He explained that between 2013 and 2016, his administration borrowed a little more than ¢ 54 billion and the record is there for everyone to see in the area of roads, schools, health infrastructure, electricity, water, ports and airports, among others.
But in a strong refutation, the vice president has recounted what the loans taken by the administration led by Akufo-Addo have been used for.
The vice president indicated that the money was not used to purchase guinea fowl as the NDC did and claimed that it was flown to Burkina Faso.
