“I have been instrumental in all efforts to make the Kusaal language a subject of study at Winneba University of Education. Since then, the University has been producing graduates to handle the language within the Traditional Area in the formal sector, ”he said.

He said a committee was formed to see the progress of the study and efforts were made to provide adequate funding to help acquire reading materials and other logistics to boost language study.

The Zug-Raan, who made the call in a speech read on his behalf at the 33rd annual Samanpiid festival of area chiefs and people, urged people to continue supporting the study of the language.

This year’s Samanpiid festival had as its theme: “Mutual understanding and coexistence; A key to improving peace for the development of Kusaug ”.

Participants in the ceremony who were entertained by the rich cultural display of the Kusasi people included government and former government appointees, department heads, heads of the entire Kusaug area and beyond, security personnel, media of communication and members of the public.

Naba Azoka II said that Dr. David Ayaaba, Director of the Gbewaa College of Education, was the chair of the Kusaal Language Development Committee and encouraged those who needed more information to contact him or anyone of the members of the Committee. He said that to improve the level of education in the area, the Bawku Naba Educational Endowment Fund was established to support bright but needy students in their academic endeavors.

The Zug-Raan emphasized, “The fund’s disbursement is non-discriminatory and is managed by a well-thought-out constituted committee.

“Therefore, we urge all sons and daughters of Kusaug to contribute to the fund to meet the needs of our bright but needy students. No contribution is small in this direction ”.

He also recognized government policies and programs, such as the Youth Employment program, the Free Secondary Education policy, the continuation of the School Meals program, among others that he said were beneficial to the people of his traditional area.

“I urge everyone to take advantage of these laudable policies to improve our economic situation and send our children, especially girls, to school.”

The Supreme Chief said that despite government policies and programs in his traditional area, more needed to be done to develop the area, and urged the government to accelerate the completion of the Bolgatanga-Bawku-Pulmakom highway and the completion of Tamde. . Irrigation Dam Project among others.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in a speech read on his behalf, said: “I am particularly aware that Samanpiid, among other things, has become an instrument to mobilize resources to support the education of bright and needy children, especially those in need. girls
