Barcelona’s Damning Numbers This Season – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Score, Results

Barcelona suffered another major setback in LaLiga Santander on Saturday as they fell to defeat against Cádiz.

Ronald Koeman’s team has started the 2020/21 campaign especially badly in the league, scoring just 14 points in its first 10 games.

Atlético de Madrid is the current leader of LaLiga Santander with 26 points, with Barcelona just three points above the relegation zone.

The Blaugrana’s 14 points come from four wins, two draws and four defeats, while their total tally is the worst at this stage of the season since 1987/88. That year, Barcelona finished sixth in LaLiga and manager Terry Venables was fired after four games.

With Koeman this season, Barcelona have posted their worst score since you started scoring three points for a win, instead of two.

Defensive weaknesses

Barcelona have been the cause of their own downfall at times this season, making big mistakes in defense that have led to goals.

In six of their 10 league games this season, the Catalans have conceded the first goal and have failed to win any of them.

Koeman’s team has also kept just three clean sheets so far this season, conceding 11 goals in total.

Traveler’s disease

Barcelona have won just one of their five away games this season so far, against Celta de Vigo in Balaidos.

Of their other outings outside the Camp Nou, the Blaugrana have lost in Getafe, Atlético and Cádiz, and tied in Alavés.

Attack output

Barcelona is one of the most efficient teams in LaLiga Santander when it comes to scoring goals, having scored 20 so far this season.

However, if you compare it with other seasons, this Barça team is not so impressive. They are averaging one goal every 45 minutes this season, their worst numbers in 12 years.

In terms of shots, Koeman’s team averages three shots per goal, which is also his worst in 13 years.

There is still time for Barcelona to turn things around this season in LaLiga Santander, and their Champions League form offers some hope. However, his coach is not optimistic.

“We have taken a huge step back in our chances of winning the league,” Koeman said after the loss to Cádiz.
