FC Barcelona players do not talk much to each other, in a way that has surprised even their rival, according to a new story published in Catalonia.
Anonymous players from Levante are cited in the piece Sports diary, saying “in the field, they didn’t even speak to each other. Only the minimum during set pieces, and that’s it ”.
Barcelona beat Levante 1-0, but apparently, they weren’t particularly enthusiastic about the performance.
“After the game, absolutely nothing was heard in the tunnel from the dressing room,” said another anonymous Levante player. “Not a word of satisfaction for hitting us … It was a strange situation.”
The report says that while there is no problem between the veterans and the younger players, there is not much feeling between them either.
The team appears to be focused on working hard and improving, but there just doesn’t seem to be much enthusiasm or joy from the players. This could be cause for concern.
However, maybe victory and the holiday season will turn things around. Manager Ronald Koeman described listening to the player-only Christmas dinner as a “party” that could be heard from outside the room. Are things changing?
