The 2020 general election is exactly one week away, and most of the candidates from the various constituencies are tying up all the loose ends to secure their vote.
In the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, incumbent MP Lydia Seyram Alhassan is determined to retain the seat to continue representing the constituency for the next four years.
He faces stiff competition from the Ghanaian actor and businessman, John Setor Dumelo, who is not resting on his laurels.
Dumelo has gone to great lengths to connect with the residents of Ayawaso West.
During a recent party rally in the constituency, Foreign Minister Shriley Ayorkor Botchwey fired direct shots at John Dumelo.
According to her, parliament is a place for serious business and not a place for film actors.
He added that parliament is not a place for people who think they got their popularity through movies, and therefore can compete to get people to think seriously.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, therefore, encouraged residents to turn up at his number and vote en masse for the PNP candidate, affectionately named Maa Lydia.
He added that if Ayawaso residents voted for the PNP in both the presidential and parliamentary spaces, there would be a massive development in the constituency.
Meanwhile, the vice president’s wife, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Samira Bawumia, has scoffed at John Dramani Mahama’s promise to create one million jobs if he is elected president in the December 7 elections.
Mahama, in one of his campaign demonstrations, promised that Ghanaians would go back to work creating one million jobs in four when he regains the presidency.
The presidential candidate of the Democratic National Congress (NDC) said his second administration will pursue an aggressive labor and business agenda in the public and private sectors.
Commenting on the promise, the Second Lady said that Mahama lacks the competence to fulfill that promise.
