Attitude change is what Ghana needs for development

The Most Reverend Solomon Bruce, Minister Superintendent in charge of the Old Tafo Circuit of the Ghana Methodist Church (MCG), has counseled Ghanaians to cultivate a positive attitude toward national development.

This, he pointed out, was necessary since pessimism and a lukewarm attitude towards work were obstacles to the realization of the development potential of any society.

“We have to be optimistic and serious in everything we do as people, because our destiny is in our hands,” he told the Ghana News Agency (GNA), on the sidelines of a Church-year-end service in Old Tafo in the Ashanti region.

According to the Minister Superintendent, the focus should be on working together to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially those related to the environment, since the very survival of humanity depends on it.

“How we treat our environment is fundamental to our lives,” he observed.

He warned citizens, therefore, to root out practices that tend to pollute the air and water bodies, as well as other natural resources.

The service was to usher in the New Year (2021) and pray for the nation and its leaders, citizens, the vulnerable and the poor.

The congregation also prayed for peaceful coexistence, unity, and tolerance among the people.

The Most Reverend Bruce noted that the New Year had its own challenges, reminding people that “there has never been a trouble-free year in the annals of mankind.”

However, the responsibility rests with the people to resolve to work together to overcome these challenges and find solutions to the prevailing conditions, he said.

He stressed the need for the nation’s leadership to foster good development policies and programs to help alleviate poverty while creating wealth among citizens.
