Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso is said to be on his way to becoming Atlético de Madrid’s first signing in the January transfer market, The Independent and Diario AS reported.
Los Rojiblancos are said to be in talks with Chelsea to sign the Spanish defender on a loan deal after Alonso requested a winter move due to lack of playing time he is getting in London.
Alonso has not played since September 26 and today he turns 30. It is imperative that he move to a club where he has more possibilities to play and it is said that Diego Simeone seeks to reinforce his left-back position.
At the moment Simeone only has Renan Lodi and Manu Sánchez there, with Mario Hermoso being asked to change positions to fill the position three times this season. Atlético took an interest in Alonso last season only for a move not to materialize.
Now the situation is considerably different. Alonso has slipped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, with Frank Lampard preferring Ben Chilwell and Emerson Palmieri over him. Alonso has played three games and 225 minutes this season.
