Reports emerged early Wednesday that the Argentine international was linked to the Atlanta departure. Athletic reported that the agreement would be worth 18 million dollars.

Speaking on Atlanta’s pre-game program ahead of Wednesday’s game against Inter Miami CF, Eales said: “I can confirm there is an agreement in principle.”
Martinez, 27, was not included on the game’s list and is awaiting a medical exam before his move.
Al-Nassr is one of the most prominent teams in Saudi Arabia, having won multiple national and continental titles.
Martínez joined the Five Stripes last season from the mighty River Plate after winning the 2019 South American Player of the Year and helping the Buenos Aires club win the 2018 Copa Libertadores over rivals Boca Juniors.
But his MLS career has failed, with seven goals and 11 assists in 39 league appearances with Atlanta. He never mixed with manager Frank de Boer, who was fired in July after Atlanta finished the MLS is Back tournament with no points or goals scored.
Martinez’s time in Atlanta had some high points as he helped guide the club to both the United States Open Cup and the Champions Cup in 2019.
