The Member of Parliament (MP) of the Assin Central electoral district in the central region, Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Assin Central Electoral District in the Central Region, has retained the New Patriotic Party (PNP) seat after winning Monday’s elections.
Agyapong obtained 19,754 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nurein Shaibu Migyimah, of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who obtained 14,747 votes. He will return to Parliament for the sixth consecutive four-year term.
The businessman was first elected a member of parliament in 2000 for the Assin North headquarters. He retained his seat in the 2004 and 2008 parliamentary elections. In 2012, he was elected in the new Assin Central headquarters and was re-elected in 2016.
Presidential poll
The presidential election also followed the path of the PNP but with a better margin of victory. President Akufo-Addo amassed 21,159 to win the constituency with NDC candidate John Mahama garnering 12,650 votes.
