The Alliance for Social Equity and Public Responsibility (ASEPA) has dragged President Akufo-Addo to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) for allegedly charging $ 40,000 for bribery.

According to a statement signed by its chief executive, Mensah Thompson, it claims the president took the money to influence his decision not to fire the director of urban highways.

“In a documentary video attached and labeled Exhibit 1, the President is seen collecting a $ 40,000 bribe from individuals believed to be related to the (Director of Urban Roads) who had visited him at his private residence in Nima .

“The purpose of this meeting was to influence the president in his decision on the calls of his party members to fire the Director of Urban Roads.”

However, Mr. Thompson alleges that after taking money from the Director’s spouse, her husband continued in office to date despite several calls for his removal.

Among other things, ASEPA requests CHRAJ to investigate the circumstances that led to the bribery of the president at his private residence in Accra.

ASEPA also wants CHRAJ to conduct a forensic audit of President Akufo-Addo’s personal bank accounts to determine the flow of funds to his personal accounts.

The Alliance wants the Commission to find out the sources of the funds to establish whether there is a link between the funds and the award of any government contract or the appointment of any public official.
