The Chief Justice (CJ) has been asked to impeach a Supreme Court Justice, Jones Dotse, from any election-related case.
The petition was made by the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Responsibility (ASEPA), which argues that rumors that Judge Dotse was nominated as president of Parliament compromises it.
“Considering the fact that the learned judge appears to be a candidate from the ruling party, we believe that this puts the judge in a detrimental position, unable to make an independent determination of any election-related procedure,” he noted in his petition.
The alliance believes that “this is enough to harm him and, as such, calls for his dismissal from all cases related to the elections.”
This petition comes as the standard-bearer of the Democratic National Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has filed a petition challenging the results of the presidential elections.
The alliance says that its request must be answered before “summoning the judges to sit in any case related to the elections in order to protect the image, integrity and independence of the judiciary, especially in the adjudication of the request. pending election filed before her by NDC. ”
