Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Granada was two good news for coach Zinedine Zidane.
The first was maintaining his six-win streak in all competitions, while the other was the excellent performance of Marco Asensio, his best performance in a Real Madrid jersey since returning from a serious injury in June.
The 24-year-old had been confined to the bench in recent games, but gave Zidane something to think about with his display at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium on Wednesday night, having replaced the injured Rodrygo in the first half.
It had taken a long time to arrive
Zidane had given Asensio opportunities to shine early in the campaign, but with the team experiencing a slump in form, the Mallorcan found himself out of favor when his coach sought a formula to reverse his slip, which he successfully accomplished by rotating Minus .
Without a goal or assist in 19 games, Asensio was in a tunnel from which he could not escape.
But, with his excellent cross to the post that Casemiro headed home in the 57th minute, Asensio ended his sterile streak.

From that moment on, Asensio was confident and continued to threaten the visiting defense.
With Rodrygo now on the treatment table and Eden Hazard out of the squad regularly due to his own fitness issues, it’s a good time for Zidane to get back in shape and fire Asensio from his arsenal.
Although this has been a year that began with recovery from a long-term knee injury, the 24-year-old now appears ready to contribute even more to his team’s drive for honors.
