Asawase NDC Secretary Goes To Police Over Alleged Death Threats

Mugis Mahdi, secretary of the opposition Democratic National Congress in the Asawase constituency in the Ashanti region, has made an official complaint to the police for alleged death threats against him.

According to him, he received a message from an unknown contact number after the person used words that threatened his life.

The development comes a day after Asawase constituency member of Parliament (MP) Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak accused the Ashanti region police of bias when it came to matters involving NDC members.

Mahdi said Citi News He currently lives in fear and has since provided the police with evidence to assist them in their investigations.

He explained that “On Monday 26 of this month of 2020 I received a text message from a stranger around 10:26 am saying ‘Mugis Mahdi, your death is near, you will die before your marriage, be careful’. I was a little scared because I don’t remember having any dispute with anyone, political or non-political. ”

“So the matter surprised me. As a matter of urgency, I quickly reported the matter to the police and also to my superiors at the party level because I would not know if the matter was politically motivated or not. ”

He said police have started investigations into the matter. Mugis said they have taken him through some safety tips and also urged him to be more vigilant.

The NDC constituency secretary said the matter comes just a week before their wedding and said he has decided to go public with the issue so Ghanaians know what is happening.

Mugis Mahdi, as NDC constituency secretary for Asawase, has been a voice communicator for the party in the Ashanti region.
