Asantehene, Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II has stated that former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Jerry John Rawlings had a cordial relationship before the latter’s disappearance.

His statement comes in response to the prevailing notion of animosity between the first and second presidents of the Fourth Republic.

The Asantehene made this revelation on Thursday when a delegation of 5 grieving family members paid a visit to the Manhyia Palace to formally inform him of the passing of Mr. Rawlings.

The delegation consisted of the former president’s eldest daughter, Dr. Zenator Agyeman-Rawlings, his son, Kimathi Rawlings, Ambassador Victor Gbeho, the former president’s cousin, Mr. Michael Soussoudis, and Johnny Blagogee.

Luv FM’s Nana Yaw Gyimah reported that Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during the visit, recounted countless cases in which he involved them in various conversations of national interest.

He also noted that he does not know why that misconception persists.

Additionally, the Asantehene made known their willingness to assist in arranging a proper burial for the country’s oldest president.
