Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has tasked security agencies, in particular the Ghana Police Service, with ensuring that the December 7 elections run without incidents of violence.

He said the police should take care of whoever wants to cause trouble before, during and after elections.

He took up this position on Thursday, October 15, when the Inspector General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh, visited him at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

“The peace of the elections is in your hands,” said the king of the Asante Kingdom in the local Twi language.

“The IGP has ensured that the police are prepared for the exercise. Anyone who tries to cause trouble must be dealt with legally. “

He noted that Ghana is the only country for everyone, including politicians.

Therefore, he recommended that they be prudent in their pronouncement and accept the results of the elections.

“When we vote and you win, we will give it to you. When he loses at least another four years, there will be other elections. This is what the Ghanaians have accepted.

“If you don’t agree with the results, you can send it to court for a decision that will be accepted by all of us. There is no need for chaos. “

He also advised young people not to blindly follow politicians to cause trouble.

The IGP, Mr. Oppong-Boanuh, was happy and appealed to traditional leaders to advise young people not to use themselves as instruments to perpetrate acts of violence.
