Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been fined Gh ¢ 207,800 by the Players’ Status Committee (PSC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the petitions of four former players.

The PSC was consulted by Mathew Kelvin Andoh, Abass Mohammed, Evans Owusu and Stephen Tetteh Aryiku about the unilateral termination of their contracts by the club.

The petition filed by the aforementioned players outlined Kotoko’s outstanding salaries and signing fees.

The PSC’s decision in the four cases is as follows:

Player’s name Incentive fee (Gh ¢) Salary (Gh ¢)
Evans Owusu 20,000 6,000
Stephen Tetteh Aryiku 50,000 9,000
Abass mohammed 40,000 10,800
Kelvin Andoh 50,000 12,000

The decision took into account the incentive fees and monthly wages owed.

The sum of all these fees amounts to a fine of ¢ 197,800 Gh for the four former players.

However, the GFA has sanctioned the Kumasi-based club for repeated abusive breach of contract in all four cases.

As a result, an additional ¢ 10,000 Gh has been included in the fine for various charges of breach of contract, bringing the total fine to ¢ 207,800 Gh.

Kotoko will also not be able to register any new players at the national level during a registration period.

The GFA has established a 14-day deadline for the sanction and if Kotoko does not pay his former players before that date, the matter will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee for further sanctions: deduction of points.
