Ghana’s giants Asante Kotoko are celebrating their 85th anniversary.
The club turned 85 on Monday, August 31, 2020.
In a statement issued to mark the occasion, the club wrote:
“His Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the Board of Directors, our ever-loyal fans and our sponsors, extend a warm birthday greeting to the best football club in Ghana, Asante Kotoko.
“The year 2020 marks the 85th anniversary of our beloved club. 85 years in the life of each creature symbolize the end of one generation and the beginning of another. It is not surprising that 2020, despite being a difficult year for everyone world, has brought about the reincarnation of Asante Kotoko.
“Like the phoenix, the great porcupine has risen from its ashes and is about to reproduce young that will take the world by storm.
“Asante Kotoko has achieved everything he was born to achieve in his first life of 85 years. Record league titles, African Cup and many other achievements that make him the best Ghanaian club and African club of the century.
“Today marks the beginning of a new era to propel our great club to be the African club of another century. Achieving this requires the support and hard work of all fans and stakeholders. We will not rest on our laurels.
“We will work hard to compete at the highest level and make this club bigger than ever. This is a year in which the world is facing an unprecedented global health crisis, it is not a time to celebrate.
“However, it is still important for us to reflect on the past and, more importantly, to focus on the future. Our great achievements in the last 85 years, came with great efforts, resulting in Asante Kotoko being recognized in the football industry in Africa as one of the largest.
“Going forward, past achievements should encourage us to propel us towards professionalism. A development that will propel the club through ideas, innovation, knowledge, experience, hard work and focus on becoming the biggest brand in African football. driven by an economic approach.
