Black Stars forward Asamoah Gyan has targeted the Legon Cities’ first win against Medeama SC on matchday three at Accra Sports Stadium.

The Accra-based club are off to a shaky start to the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League despite spending huge sums of money on the transfer window that just ended.

Gyan, who joined the Royals on the transfer deadline day, has yet to take his bow for the club, but according to him, he hopes to see his team record their first win of the season against Medeama.

Legon Cities has accounted for just one point out of a possible six after two games. They drew their first game 1-1 against Berekum Chelsea as they suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Great Olympics in Accra.

The team’s less impressive start has led to the sacking of Serbian coach Goran Barjaktarevic. He is replaced by veteran Ghanaian strategist Bashir Hayford, who is a two-time champion.

Speaking to Citi TV, he indicated that a victory is very possible, but emphasized that they must work for it in the field.

“Yes, everything is possible. We can beat them, ”Gyan said of Legon Cities versus Medeama’s chances.

“[It’s about] how we approach the game, how we are willing to play. Tactically, coaches can do their tactics, but mentally, when you’re not there, it won’t work. “

“So we have to make sure we go there with the same mindset. We give everything we have and victory can come when we do everything well on the field and are tactically disciplined … with effort as well, I think everything will be fine, “concluded Asamoah Gyan.

Gyan, who has yet to show up for the team, hopes to be ready for his next game against Medeama SC at Accra Sports Stadium.

The Ghana Premier League Match Week 3 match will take place on Friday, November 27, with the kick-off scheduled for 6:00 PM GMT.
