Media reports claim that the forward’s sale price has become a barrier between a possible move

Asamoah Gyan commercial manager Samuel Anim Addo has revealed speculation that the Ghana striker is demanding an amount of $ 500,000. [€426,530] from Asante Kotoko before joining the local giants are fake.

The former Sunderland and Udinese striker, who hasn’t had a club since January, has been heavily tied to the Porcupine Warriors ahead of the start of the 2020-21 soccer season in November.

Rumors of an impending move have been heavily fueled by the dream of wearing Kotoko’s jersey before ending his playing career.

He played for Liberty Professionals before leaving the national league for Italian Udinese in 2003, but the Kumasi-based team is the most successful club in Premier League history, having won 23 titles.

“I don’t know where the news is coming from, that Gyan is demanding such an amount,” Anim Addo told Angel FM.

“And even if that’s the case, how many followers does Kotoko have? Kotoko has around 10 million followers and if they should secure Gyan’s services and sell one of her replicas. [jerseys] for GHC10 [€1.5]What will be the benefit?

“You look at the marketability, the promotion and the benefits it can bring to the club.

“The amount of goals it will provide has not been mentioned and for me we should see the positives of bringing such a player to the club, finding a strategy to catch him, leave him in the game and let everyone benefit.”

Gyan’s last stint at the club was a four-month stint with NorthEast United of the Indian Super League between September last year and January this year.

“Kotoko has said that they like him because he once said that one day he will play for Kotoko, but for now, no club has approached him with any offers,” Anim Addo told Graphic Sports in August.

“Gyan has received offers from Europe and Asia, but if Kotoko can meet our terms, why not?”

Gyan also previously played for Italian team clubs Modena, Rennes in France, Al Ain and Al Ahli Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Shanghai SIPG in China and the Turkish fold Kayserispor.

The veteran forward is currently Ghana’s most capped player and all-time top scorer with 109 Black Stars appearances and 51 goals.
