Black Stars captain general Asamoah Gyan has apologized for using some unflattering words about his tennis opponent, Godwin Martey, who accused him of battery.

Speaking in an interview, he claimed that the words were spoken in anger over the disagreement that had occurred between them on the tennis court.

The words, Asamoah Gyan said, were unjustified and he asked his fans to forgive him.

His apology comes after Godwin Martey, the CEO of Websoft Solutions, accused the Captain General of Black Stars and his brother, Baffour Gyan, of assaulting him during a tennis match.

The incident is said to have occurred at 37 Army Officer’s Mess tennis court on the night of Wednesday, October 14.

According to Martey, the singles game that was organized by a mutual friend took a bitter turn when he realized that all the controversial points that were supposed to go in his favor were handed over to Asamoah Gyan by his brother Baffour Gyan, who acted as a referee. of the game.

After observing this for some time, Martey said he was not happy and asked that a proper tournament be organized with a match commissioner and a neutral referee to ensure fairness for both parties.

After telling them this, he said that Baffour Gyan yelled at him in “a very aggressive tone” saying, “My friend shut up and stay there and play.”

Feeling intimidated by the angry spiel, he quit the game and sat on the sidelines.

From his account of the incident, Baffour Gyan continued to yell at him angrily.

Baffour Gyan is said to have charged Godwin, continually slapped him, and insisted that he return to the game.

On Thursday, an audio of the Black Stars Captain General altercation appeared insulting Godwin Martey.

Additionally, Mr. Gyan was heard telling his opponent that he “deserved” to be slapped when Mr. Martey complained about the assault.

In a previous interview, the Gyan brothers denied having assaulted their opponent, adding that the defendant only said that so that he could record and incriminate them.

However, the Captain believes that the audio does not fully and effectively communicate what happened between him, his brother, and his accuser.

“It’s out of context … you hear voices but you didn’t see what really happened,” he said.
