Mikel Arteta has congratulated the efforts of his young Arsenal men after the resounding Europa League victory against Molde on Thursday.

Joe Willock, 21, starred in the Emirates and scored, and Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka also gave the opportunity to impress on the European stage once again.

The result saw a nervous Arsenal tighten its grip on the group and move closer and closer to qualification, with boss Arteta praising the less experienced members of their ranks.

He told BT Sport: ‘It was very important for us to win tonight and get to the top of the group.

“We had a resounding victory and the guys tried to go after them from the first minute. We were a goal behind but it was about the reaction, we created many chances.

“If they didn’t score their own goals, we had players there for tap in. We could withstand the attacks and we didn’t want to let them run against us because they are a threat.

‘I really like the approach that the younger players have for each game, they want to make a difference, they are playing with a lot of personality.

‘Joe Willock could have scored more, created a goal and a good performance. Keep doing what you’re doing consistently and your opportunity will come (in the Premier League). ‘

Willock earned the man of the match award at the end of the clash and turned heads in the center of midfield.

The outstanding 21-year-old midfielder advanced and forced two own goals from Molde, before completing a memorable display with a great effort of his own.

The Arsenal academy graduate picked up a pass from Nicolás Pepe, who also found the target, and crashed high into the net.

Pepe scored his goal at the end of a fluid play started by Willock in deeper position, with substitute Saka crossing over for his teammate to jump.

The scoring could have gotten even more emphatic for the hosts, only for Nketiah to be left frustrated after his finish was incorrectly scored offside.
