It’s a great time to be an Arsenal fan with the team atop the Premier League (albeit only one game in the season) and star forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang now officially on board for the foreseeable future.
After months of bickering, Aubameyang agreed to a new three-year contract that will make him the highest-paid player in the Emirates and will keep him there beyond his 34th birthday.
With 72 goals in 111 games for the club, Arsenal were obviously more than happy to flaunt it.

It started with a series of “hourglass” emojis posted by Auba earlier in the day, with many fans on edge about what the big news was and when it would become official.

In fact, the Gunners were positively delighted to secure the continued services of a player who has finished as their top scorer in the two full seasons he has been with them.
It wasn’t long before social media was awash with news and reactions to Aubameyang’s new contract extension, with Arsenal really opening the floodgates.
😍 The moment everyone was waiting for!

Of course, Arsenal’s unofficial internal cheerleader Ian Wright was on the scene quickly to praise Aubameyang’s treatment with all the warm and infectious charisma we expect.

Some slightly more cynical Arsenal fans were reminded of a certain former player who announced one of his new contracts in a familiarly exaggerated way.

The Gunners even held a live broadcast for the occasion so fans could follow in real time as Aubameyang filmed Insta Stories in the Emirates.

He even managed to take some photos on the court with his father and agent, Pierre Senior, the man responsible for negotiating the new contract in question.

As the tide progressed, several other Arsenal players past and present kept turning up to congratulate Aubameyang for “signing a date.”

However, an interesting little subplot involved Auba’s fellow forward Alexandre Lacazette, who appeared to be attempting to settle a bet with Joe Willock in the comment section.

Perhaps it was a completely foreign matter? Perhaps Willock had put money into Auba by refusing to sign a new contract and leaving the club for new pasture?
We may never know.
