Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been urged to re-sign former Gunners forward Olivier Giroud from Chelsea during the January transfer window.

Arsene Wenger brought Giroud to the Premier League in 2012, and the French forward escorted more than 100 goals for the club.

The 34-year-old left the Emirates in January 2018 to join London rival Chelsea, where he has scored 35 more goals and won the Europa League.

The veteran hitman currently enjoys a purple patch, scoring six goals in his last five appearances. However, still tied with a Stamford Bridge outing in the new year.

When asked if Arsenal should turn to Giroud for help with their scoring problems, Saha said Genting bet, quoted by Meter: “Olivier Giroud could be a good option for Arsenal if they signed him again.

“He is a first class forward. It may not always give you the style you want. But he is always questioned and stands up to answer them.

“Any team in England would love to have a Giroud in top form on their team.”

Former French international Saha shared a dressing room with Arteta while the two were at Everton.

The Spaniard did well early in his tenure at Arsenal, but has seen his team struggle this season.

Arteta stepped back to come good

The Gunners are currently 15th in the table ahead of Sunday’s clash with Burnley, and Saha added: “Arteta has shown a lot of quality since coming to the management of Arsenal.

“He has been rightly praised by the experts for his quality and style of play. But all that is forgotten the moment they lose some games.

“Mikel is still a young coach, he will make mistakes but he has already adapted well to certain situations.

“You must realize that Arteta has entered a great club very early, he surprised me, but he has done better than I expected in the way he has handled everything.

“He has handled the pressure extremely well. You also have to remember that the club itself is not that great at the moment. It’s not just that Arteta isn’t doing a good job.

“He has come to a club that has not done well with transfers in recent years, so he has work to do.”
