Real Madrid ‘waiting’ for Arsenal to enter Isco’s career
Real Madrid will allow Isco to leave the Bernabéu if he receives a suitable offer, according to reports from Spain.
The 28-year-old has started just three times in La Liga this season and hasn’t played a single minute in the Champions League.
According to El Confidencial, through Sport Witness, Everton is in the mix for the former Malaga native, who moved to Madrid during Carlo Ancelotti’s time at the helm.
However, despite suggestions for a € 20 million offer in January from the Merseyside club, the latest report claims that the reigning champions of Spain are hoping that Arsenal will enter the race.
Isco is out of contract in 2022 and a winter outing would allow Zinedine Zidane’s team to recoup a good fee for the Spanish international before he enters the last 12 months of his contract.
However, whether Arsenal would feel the need to move for him is another matter entirely.
Eriksen ‘not a priority’ for Arsenal
Christian Eriksen has been linked to a surprise return to the Premier League with Arsenal, having battled for playing time since leaving rivals Tottenham Hotspur in January for Inter Milan.
However, it is understood that it is not a priority for the Gunners.
That’s according to FcInterNews, via Inside Futbol, and Arsenal is believed to be monitoring Red Bull Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai and continuing to control Lyon’s Houssem Aouar after failing with a summer focus.
Eriksen has made just 15 starts with Inter after joining the club 10 months ago, and only four of them this season.
However, he remains in good shape internationally despite his lack of football in Serie A, scoring five goals in his last five appearances for Denmark, including a win against England in October.
Arsenal target former Manchester City youth
Arsenal’s youth recruitment drive is expected to continue in January, with the club close to a deal for Hertha Berlin defender Omar Rekik.
The teenager spent time on the Manchester City books, where his older brother Karim made a few first-team appearances, and has been playing for Hertha’s reserve team at the German fourth level.
According to football.london, Arsenal were close to a deal for Rekik before the October transfer deadline, and the report indicates that the Gunners will loan him back to their current club if a deal is completed in the new year.
Rekik, whose brother is a Dutch international, has been called up for Tunisia’s senior team but has yet to make his debut for Mondher Kebaier’s squad.
It would be the latest in a long line of young talents brought to North London under the supervision of academy chief Per Mertesacker, such as summer newcomers George Lewis and Jonathan Dinzeyi.
