Ex-Gunners star is possible replacement for Edu
Arsenal are reportedly interested in replacing manager Edu with former winger Marc Overmars. The Dutchman, who spent three years at Highbury, is currently Ajax’s director of football.
The Gunners had a busy summer transfer window as they brought in Gabriel Magalhaes, Willian and Thomas Partey, but not everyone was happy with their business.
Some fans were unhappy with the deal to sign Willian due to his exorbitant wages, with the Brazilian earning £ 220,000 a week.
Edu, the man responsible for those deals, has taken a good part of the blame, with fans criticizing the decision to award such an important contract to a 32-year-old.
Now reports suggest Arsenal could replace their transfer guru with Overmars.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Overmars could be exiting Ajax.
Overmars is credited with helping create Ajax’s golden generation of players, as Matthijs de Ligt, Donny van de Beek, Frenkie de Jong and Hakim Ziyech all left the club for significant transfer fees.
