Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is eager to bring in some new faces this January to help turn the club’s fortunes in the second half of the campaign. The Spaniard has a great stepping stone to move forward in the New Year following Saturday’s 3-1 win over Chelsea at Emirates Stadium.

It is already clear that the Arsenal hierarchy is firmly behind Arteta and he won, the Gunners will look to back their coach in the January transfer market.

However, funding is likely to be limited, meaning that Arsenal may need to raise cash through sales before putting their hands in their pockets.

The team is already too big and the club struggled to get several players off the books earlier this summer.

Here are five names that could arrive in North London by the end of the year when the January transfer window opens …

Yves Bissouma – Brighton

Bissouma’s agent, Michael N’Cho, says players like Liverpool and Arsenal have shown interest in his client.

The Brighton star is a similar player to summer signing Thomas Partey and therefore it would be a surprise if the Gunners made their move.

However, it is easy to see why Bissouma has become associated with the Big Six clubs in recent months.

He sent Declan Rice in his 2-2 draw with West Ham yesterday and looks destined to play the Champions League in the future.

Brighton boss Graham Potter has said of the player’s future: “There have been no approaches.

“Like I said before, just because it’s in the media doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true. My focus is on Yves and how I can help him improve, and I think he still has some improvements to make.

That’s my approach with him, trying to help him reach his full potential. He still has work to do, so that’s what we’re focusing on. “

Houssem Aouar – Lyon

Fabrizio Romano believes Arsenal is expected to return for Aouar, after failing with two offers in October.

He is a player Arteta would love to bring to Emirates Stadium and the Frenchman is intrigued by Arsenal’s interest.

“I think they will try again for sure,” Romano told The Arsenal Lounge in early December.

“Now we have to know what will happen to [Dominik] Szoboszlai, you are awaiting your final decision.

But immediately after Szoboszlai signed with another club, they could move for Aouar again. They have already spoken with their agent.

“It’s not easy to sign Aouar in January, but he’s at the top of Arsenal’s list. He is Arteta’s favorite, the same goes for the board. So yeah, in my opinion, they will try again. “

Julian Brandt – Borussia Dortmund

It’s a surprise target, but according to The Athletic, Arsenal have considered a raid for the Borussia Dortmund winger.

Brandt has struggled to stay fit this season and has regressed in recent months following his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019.

The German international can play wide or as a number 10, an area Arteta is eager to improve.

Any move may depend on whether Brandt returns to form under new interim boss Edin Terzic.

Vincius Junior – Real Madrid

There has been speculation this week about a possible loan deal for Real Madrid’s failure Vinicius Jr.

While Los Blancos are confident Vinicius will turn out well, he has yet to live up to expectations following his £ 38 million move from Flamengo in 2017.

Arsenal are ready to explore a temporary deal and if Real Madrid are interested in sending them to North London with their midfielder Dani Ceballos, this could turn out to be good business for the Gunners.

Vinicius lacks confidence after the camera caught Karim Benzema telling his Real Madrid teammates not to pass him at half-time in the Champions League group stage against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

There is currently a lot at stake at Arsenal, so it may not be the best environment for their development.
