Arsenal plans to distribute tickets to key workers and fans who have struggled through the pandemic after they were given the green light to play in front of fans.

The Gunners will be allowed 2,000 fans in the Emirates after London moves to Tier 2 this week.

It will be the first Premier League stadium to welcome fans when Arsenal take on Rapid Vienna in the Europa League on Thursday. And Burnley’s trip to the Emirates next month will be Arsenal’s first home league game with fans.

The Spurs confirmed that 2,000 fans would be allowed to attend the North London derby next week with tickets available via ballot.

Tickets will be split between season ticket holders and corporate fans, although the final breakdown has yet to be confirmed.

The requirement that tickets be available to business partners and premium seat holders is one of the reasons why clubs hoped that fans would be allowed to return in greater numbers, ensuring that more regular fans could watch the games.

The fact that corporate tickets cost more is also a factor for clubs to consider, given that they are prepared for significant losses due to the costs involved in hosting games in front of such a small crowd.

West Ham will return to play in front of the fans for the first time when they host Manchester United next Saturday night. They will also make 2,000 tickets available through a ballot. Season ticket holders will be entered automatically, although fans whose addresses are in Level 3 locations will not be able to attend the game.

Meanwhile, Arsenal hope to have Mohamed Elneny available to face the Wolves following his Covid-19 diagnosis.

The midfielder tested positive while on international duty for Egypt and has been in isolation, missing Arsenal’s games against Leeds and Molde. Arsenal will call Bukayo Saka late, and Thomas Partey and Willian will continue to be evaluated.

The club was able to train on Friday afternoon as originally planned despite having to change its flight plans following Thursday’s Europa League victory in Molde.

They were due to board a flight home after the game but had to cancel it due to foggy conditions in the UK.
