Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta accepted his fair share of the blame after claiming he pushed Thomas Partey back onto the field before his team conceded the second goal against Tottenham on Sunday.
Partey started with the Gunners for the first time since suffering a thigh injury against Aston Villa on November 8.
During a Spurs counterattack, Partey was seen limping to the edge of the field with an injury.
Then Arsenal had lost possession and the Spurs were able to quickly counterattack as José Mourinho’s men took advantage of the space that Partey left to score their second goal of the game through Harry Kane.
The 27-year-old enforcer was removed immediately after Kane’s goal on Sunday.
“It was too fast. We passed and I think it was a four-on-three situation for us to play the last ball and we passed,” Arteta explained after the game.
“Suddenly, they come to attack us and Thomas is walking towards me and I was trying to push him.
“I haven’t talked to him so I don’t know exactly how it happened or if he felt something really serious. I’ll look at him and we’ll talk about it.”
