Arsenal legend Paul Merson has explained why Harry Kane may have to leave Tottenham Hotspur for silverware.
This comes after Tottenham lost to Arsenal on Sunday in North London in the Premier League. Merson feels the issue of Kane’s long-term future at the club is once again posed as the Spurs seem to struggle constantly competing for trophies.
“It was another football game where I couldn’t see what Tottenham were trying to do and I was quite worried about them,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“But they’ll probably show up next week or the next week and turn someone around and everyone will say they’re great and that Harry Kane should stay.
“Ultimately, it’s a great decision for him. I think he’s the best center forward in the world and I thought yesterday was another game where he would have come off the court and thought ‘this is not good enough. I want to see Harry. Kane ends his winning career stuff because he is a special player.
“At the end of your career, you will want to remember the things you won. Tottenham is a great club and it is well run, but I’m not sure I can do it there.”
Spurs will now turn their attention to the Europa League as they travel to face Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday.
