A group of NDC supporters in Kwapong, in the Asunafo Sur constituency of the Ahafo region, left their party for the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP).

The former NDC stalwarts, numbering around 100, announced their defection in a large durbar of Kwapong bosses and people during Vice President Bawumia’s visit on Tuesday.

The women said their defection to the PNP was informed by the good policies of the Akufo-Addo government, especially the flagship policy of Free Senior High School.

They said the policy has relieved many parents of the difficulty of financing their children’s secondary education.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia warmly welcomed them to the elephant fraternity and symbolically took a group photo with them.

The regional president of the Ahafo Nuclear Power Plant, Owusu Sekyere, also welcomed them to the party and assured them of the love and care of the party.

“We welcome you to our family. As of today, you are one of us and we assure you of our love and care ”, said the Regional President.

The regional president asked that defectors be presented with special NPP t-shirts to seal their transfer from the NDC to the NPP.
