The presidential candidate of the Democratic National Congress (NDC) in the 2020 elections, John Dramani Mahama, has made a cash donation of 10,000 GHS to the families of the adolescents who drowned on a beach in Apam last Sunday, March 7, 2021.
He also donated 3,000 GHS to the Apam Fishermen’s Council.
The donation was made on behalf of Mr. Mahama by the NDC’s running mate in the 2020 election, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. She said the donations are to support traditional rituals and the burial service for the young victims of the fatal incident.
He used the occasion to comfort the grieving families and involved the two survivors and their families. He also recorded his deep gratitude and appreciation for all those who have met the challenge with both rescue efforts and material support.
In particular, he thanked the rescue teams, the Fishermen’s Council, Apam youth, the management and staff of St. Luke’s Catholic Hospital and the District Police Command.
Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was accompanied by Gomoa West Member of Parliament Richard Gyan-Mensah, along with other Central Regional Deputies Caucus colleagues such as Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, James Gyakye Quayeson, Abeiku Crentsil, David Vondee and Gizella Tetteh Agbotui.
Theophilus Aidoo Mensah, NDC Central Regional Vice President, Mr. Kojo Quansah, Regional Secretary, Ms. Faustina Lamptey, Regional Women’s Organizer, Alhaji Muhammed Kassim, Constituency President and their executives were all part of the entourage.
President Akufo-Addo had previously donated 36,000 GHS to grieving families and Apam bosses.
