The Ghanaian government faces new court debt of approximately $ 120 million after GCNET delivered a notice after its contract was terminated in poor condition by a team led by Osafo Maafo, then chief minister, MyNewsGh learned. com.

The latter comes at a time when the International Court of Arbitration awarded a cost of $ 134 million and an interest of $ 30 million against the Government of Ghana for the cancellation of an Emergency Power Agreement with limited GCGP under the former Minister of Boakye Agyarko Energy as part of several other energy contracts canceled by the nuclear power plant on the grounds that the country did not need those energy agreements.

The ruling of the International Court of Arbitration ordered the government of Ghana to pay “GPGC the full value of the Early Termination Payment, together with the costs of Mobilization, Demobilization and preservation and maintenance in the amount of US $ 134,348,661, along with interest corresponding from November 12, 2018 to the payment date, accrued daily and with monthly capitalization, at the LIBOR rate for six-month deposits in US dollars plus six percent (6%) ”.

In the latest GCnet West Blue saga, the government has to disburse $ 120 million as compensation to two companies that so far manage a port platform. The two companies, Ghana Community Network Limited (GCNet) and West Blue, which were in charge of the Ghana National Single Window (GNSW) platform.

The two companies were effectively managing the GNSW when the contract was taken from them before the expiration period and the work was assigned to Ghana Link / UNIPASS-ICUMS in a politically orchestrated agreement through the Chief Minister Yaw Osafo-Marfo’s office.

The government agreed to pay GCNet for the remaining period of the contract and the agreement was valued at an amount in the range of $ 120 million.

Since then, the government has refused to fulfill its end of the contract.
