Swansea City is launching an investigation into the fan booing incident that happened prior to their game against Reading in the English championship midweek.
Andre Ayew and his teammates were on their knees as boos from fans outside the stadium marring the importance of Black Lives’ support initiative.
Players kneel before matches in England’s major divisions in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Swansea manager Steve Cooper admitted hearing “noises” before the game, but will not judge whether it was racial or offensive boos.
“Let’s find out exactly what it was, the reasoning and justification behind it, and then I’ll give you an idea,” he said.
“But in terms of getting on our knees, we are a club that keeps betting on it.”
A similar incident occurred when teammate Millwall said he was “shocked and saddened” after his supporters booed players kneeling before a game and there were similar incidents involving fans of Colchester United and Cambridge United.
