The presence of Andre Ayew could not prevent Swansea City from conceding their first away loss in the Championship this season after a 1-0 loss to Norwich City.

Marco Stiepermann’s victory in the 84th minute separated the two teams at Carrow Road on Saturday.

Ayew was on parade from start to finish for the visitors but could not add to his five-goal Second Division tally.

The 30-year-old delivered an impressive performance early on with the most shots in the match (6), but only one shot went on target. He also won the most aerial duels (5) and completed the most dribbles (7).

Defensively, the Black Stars forward made effective contributions for Steve Cooper’s side with the highest punts (5) and third-highest tackles (2).

So far this season, Ayew has played every minute of the Swans’ Championship games and has been involved in six goals in 11 outings.

Saturday’s result was Swansea City’s second second-tier league loss this season and ended their four-game unbeaten streak.

They fell to sixth place in the league table with 19 points after 11 games, while Norwich City rose to third place with 21 points.

Ayew has been invited by Charles Akonnor to lead Ghana’s 23-man squad for their 2021 African Cup of Nations double-headed qualifiers against Sudan next week.

The Black Stars host Sudan at Cape Coast Stadium on November 12 before traveling to Khartoum for the reverse game five days later.

Ghana leads Group C with six points after winning their first two games against South Africa and Sao Tome last November.
