Andre Ayew has become Ghana’s second most capped player after playing Sudan at Cape Coast Stadium.

Before the game against Sudan, Ayew drew with Richard Kingston in 90 appearances in Ghana’s 5-1 win against Qatar last month, October 13.

The Swansea forward went on to 91 appearances after being included in the squad to face Sudan.

Ayew was first called up by Ghana coach Claude Le Roy for a friendly match against Senegal in 2007.

He made his international debut in the match, appearing as a substitute in the last match at 17 years and 246 days, becoming the fourteenth youngest player to debut for Ghana.

Since then, Ayew has played in two FIFA World Cups, as well as six African Cups of Nations, helping Ghana finish runners-up in the 2010 and 2015 editions.

Andre’s double against Sudan means he is just one goal away from equaling Sulley Muntari’s 20-goal tally for the Black Stars.

With 91 appearances, Ayew now ranks second in Ghana’s best all-time participation and is 19 appearances away from breaking Ghana’s top scorer Asamoah Gyan’s all-time record of 109.
