Andre Ayew appeared but was unable to help Swansea City as they suffered a surprising outing in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Saturday.
The Swans were defeated 2-0 by the League Two club Newport County, and Ayew lasted the entire duration of the game.
A Tristan Abrahams first-half double in the seventh minute and on the edge of the break was all it took Newport to cause the first upset of the competition this season.
Ayew and his teammates will now turn their attention to the championship opener against Preston North End on Saturday.
However, it is unclear whether the 30-year-old will remain with the club after the transfer window, as reports suggest that he is considering a move to a top-notch club.
Ayew wants to stay in Europe and has turned down suitors from the Arab world.
