Energy Minister John Peter Amewu has taken the lead in the parliamentary elections in the Hohoe constituency in the Volta region.

Amewu took on Professor Margaret Kwaku of the NDC in a constituency that has always been won by the NDC. The PNP has never won in any electoral college in the constituency since 1992.

But in a historic and surprising feat, Amewu has won not just one, but several polling stations with huge margins.

According to Joy News’ Fred Quarme Asare, Amewu won all five polling stations he had visited so far.

The polling stations included St Francis College of Education Hohoe 1 polling station, where he won 370 to Kwaku’s 160.

In the electoral college of St Francis College of Education Hohoe 2, he won 168-118 for Kwaku.
