Amakye Dede crowning Kuami Eugene as the future of Highlife last year was staged

Highlife artist Akwaboah Jnr has delved into the incident that occurred at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, where Amakye Dede crowned Kuami Eugene as the king of future Highlife.

If you can recall, last year VGMA came to an early end after a fight between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale that led to brandishing a gun on stage.

After the incident that started the show, Kuami Eugene was swarmed by legendary Highlife artist Amakye Dede as the new face of the genre, causing several people to react to him.

People questioned the legendary ability of the Highlife artist to do such a thing and people pondered Akwaboah Jnr as many people have hailed him as the best artist of the Highlife genre.

Well Akwaboah Jnr, speaking in an interview with Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu on his aggressive show, revealed that the whole incident was wrong because it was not Amakye Dede’s intention.

He explained that he does not think the legendary singer will choose a house crown, will set up a stage and crown Kuami Eugene as the future of the genre, adding that it was staged.
