Tottenham is set to allow midfielder Dele Alli to leave the club next month, according to reports.
The underprivileged 24-year-old has not started a Premier League match since the loss to Everton in the first weekend of the season and was an unused substitute in the Europa League win over Royal Antwerp on Thursday.
It seems clear that Ali is no longer part of Spurs manager José Mourinho’s plans and according to The Telegraph, he will now be granted permission to lead as a sign of respect for his five years of service at the club.
Sportsmail revealed on Friday that French champion Paris Saint-Germain is set to make another loan move for the midfielder when the January transfer window opens in three weeks.
And the report adds that while the Spurs would prefer a club that matches Alli’s market value, it would be considered a six-month loan since it could lead to his sales price rising if the move is successful.
PSG made a series of loan offers for the England international in the summer transfer window, but faced refusal on each occasion from Daniel Levy, who refused to sanction his departure.
Alli has only made one top flight appearance since coming out at halftime of Carlo Ancelotti’s defeat to Everton, a 21-minute cameo in a 6-1 win over Manchester United in October.
There he is open to leaving the leaders of the Premier League as he pursues first-team football, and has not given up hope of being part of England for next summer’s belated Euro Cup.
However, the midfielder acknowledges that only by getting regular playing time will he have a chance to earn Gareth Southgate’s retirement.
Alli has scored twice in his eight appearances this season and reached double goals in his first three seasons in the Premier League following his move to Spurs from MK Dons in 2015.
However, reports claim that Mourinho is keen to stick with Harry Winks, who has only appeared in Europa League group stage matches for the past two months.
Winks has not been happy with his lack of playing time this season and was equally frustrated at being eliminated against Antwerp.
