The president of the STAR Foundation of Ghana, Dr. Esther Ofei-Aboayge, has advised political parties to strike a balance to meet the long-term and short-term needs of the electorate when making their manifestos out there.

According to her, political parties, while making short-term promises to their constituencies, must consider the long-term implications that will not pave the way for a compromise.

Dr. Ofei-Aboagye, speaking on the What Is Next program hosted by the Rev. Opuni-Frimpong, said that key drivers of national development must be articulated in manifestos to transform people and their economy.

“I hope that party manifestos researchers and writers will refer to the National Development Planning Commission for reports on performance, trends and where the nation’s needs and gaps can be tracked, getting technical advice that will also it will shape their party manifestos, “he explained. .

“Once again, I would hope that each political party has a research department that inspects the work done by institutions such as the Institute for Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) and also what the Civil Society Groups (CSOs) will also generate. to collect what the key issues are before posting your manifestos ”

However, he recommended that the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) become fully independent and politically empowered with the necessary logistics, qualified personnel to coordinate and facilitate the parameters of Ghana’s national development push.
