The buses were two Kia Granbirds, one with the registration number GT 5629-18 with passengers heading to Kumasi from Accra and the other with the registration number GE 5510-15.

Both drivers were among the dead.

Some locals say that a three-year-old boy was among the dead.

The other passengers who survived with fatal injuries were taken to Suhum Government Hospital and Akyem Asafo Health Center for emergency treatment.

The bodies had to be extracted from the buses arranged by a team of lifeguards made up of police, firefighters and paramedics from Suhum, Bunso, Kibi and Ayensuano.

They have been deposited in the morgue of the Suhum Government Hospital.
