The Secretary General of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused President Akufo-Addo of giving the impression that the recently completed voter registration exercise was carried out without incident.
Asiedu Nketia said the president has spoken fondly on multiple platforms of the process without highlighting the sources of irregularities.
“His Excellency has made several attempts to praise the peaceful nature of the search exercise without mentioning a single act of violence during the exercise, including that which was perpetrated by his own designated person and which led to the murder of two innocent Ghanaians,” he told the press. , Thursday.
He had also accused the ruling party of machinations to disenfranchise people in the Volta region, which is considered a stronghold of the NDC.
Mr. Nketiah explained that the president’s tour of the region provided him with an opportunity to “apologize for his unjustified ethnic discrimination against volunteers.”
This opportunity, he said, was squandered by President Akufo-Addo by “pleading ignorance of all the bad things mentioned above and stating quite brazenly that he has no evil agenda against the Voltarians.”
However, the NDC called on all Ghanaians to continue their search for justice for Silas Chameh, who was stabbed in Banda Kabrono on his return from Wenchi during the voter registration exercise that had just ended.
“The NDC would like to call on all peace-loving Ghanaians to join the fight for justice for the innocent Silas Wulo Chameh, who was brutally murdered by the NPP thugs,” said the Secretary General of the NDC.
The political clashes in Banda Ahenkroh on July 13, 2020 between the NDC and the NPP over the exercise could not be controlled, turning into gunfire, car burning and barricades.
The Bono Regional Police Command announced on July 21, 2020 the arrest of seven suspects believed to be involved in the murder of the 28-year-old graduate.
