With only 239,564 registered voters in the top five constituencies, Peace FM’s projection indicated that it was mathematically impossible for Mahama to catch up with Akufo-Addo and force a runoff.

Election 2020: NDC won the majority in parliament – Mahama

Therefore, Akufo-Addo won the 2020 presidential elections and will be declared the winner by the Electoral Commission (EC), said the project.

The projection comes as the commission prepares to officially declare the winner in an election that has kept the nation on edge since Monday.

The EC has also said it would clarify the majority winner in Ghana’s parliamentary elections.

Both parties have claimed victory in parliament, with Mahama, earlier, accusing the government of using the army to try to reverse what he said was the NDC’s victory in the parliamentary elections.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Jean Mensa, president of the EC, said the commission was still collating the parliamentary results and would soon share them with the public.

“… we will make this information available to you on the number of seats in Parliament and which political party has the majority in Parliament to put an end to the issue of the number of seats,” he said.
