Former President John Mahama has accused President Akufo-Addo of embarking on a bogus lawn mowing across the country for political expediency.

According to the NDC flag bearer, the president is mowing grass for projects without a budget allocation.

Speaking at a City Hall meeting in Kumasi in the Ashanti region, the former president urged bosses to ask the president if there are funds set aside for the projects he mows for in their communities.

“I learned about a hospital project in Upper East when I was vice president. Since that project, I have told myself that I will never mow until I have seen a contractor on site. These days you see the president and vice president mowing lawns everywhere without any contractors there.

“Nananom, when they come to mow in your area, ask them if the projects they are mowing for are in the 2020 budget, ask them if the projects are in any loan agreement approved by parliament, if they are not there, then Those projects are 419, they are Sakawa, they are cutting grass for the elections, there are 419 ”, he said.

Mr. Mahama also mocked the government for “implementing” the NDC manifesto despite the party being in opposition.

“We are not yet in power but the PNP has begun to work with our manifesto… but we don’t care, we made the manifesto for the country. However, we are confident that we will return to power on December 7, “he said.

Also speaking at the event, the party’s general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, accused the government of implementing the opposition party’s programs and policies.

“They have always said that NDC members are dumb, they always say that. Now foolish people have drawn up their little manifesto, but the wise men are now implementing our manifesto, why?

“But it will come to nothing. We gave them four years, you have just over three months to finish. What could not be achieved in three years, cannot be finished in three months, ”he declared at the party’s town hall meeting in Kumasi, Ashanti region.

The claim follows several accusations by the opposition party against the government of implementing its policies, which were surpassed last week in its manifesto for the 2020 elections.

They cite the government’s positions on legalizing Okada as proof of their claim.

Meanwhile, the Transport Ministry has announced that discussions with stakeholders on the legalization of Okada in the country will resume in October.

It comes as a result of the intense debate on the legalization of the motorcycle transport business started by opposition leader John Dramani Mahama.

The ministry in a statement said the discussion is entering its second phase after it was halted as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
