The national president of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has accused President Akufo-Addo of nepotism and dishonesty.
He says the NPP standard-bearer has acted against his 2016 campaign promises, especially in areas where the party had alleged, while in opposition, that former president John Mahama had failed to deliver.
The NDC chairman was addressing claims that the party was seeking to score political points from the disappearance of its founder, the late former president Jerry John Rawlings, with his Monday, November 30, “Probity and Responsibility” march.
He argues that in addition to highlighting the ideals on which the party was founded, the exercise consisted in bringing to the fore the corrupt companies of the current PNP government.
“We had to remind ourselves that if we needed honest leadership, then of course we have to hold him accountable for what he promised the Ghanaians, to what he is doing the opposite. And he comes back with sweet promise, so we needed to expose him for who he really is and tell Ghanaians that Nana Akufo-Addo cannot be trusted, ”he told Joy News.
Ofosu-Amposu further condemned the Akufo-Addo-led administration for claiming ghost projects and others that the NDC started in 2016.
According to him, residents across the country have denied knowledge of NPP projects such as ‘One District, One Factory’ and the ‘One Million Dollars per Constituency’ initiative, and therefore deserve to be told the truth.
