The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) parliamentary candidate for the Central Ayawaso constituency, Gifty Hammond, has denounced that the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Percival Kofi Akpaloo, received the support of President Akufo-Addo for his campaign.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, the candidate who lost in the elections said that Akpaloo revealed to his candidates that his party received financial and logistical support from the incumbent government.
She revealed this in reaction to Akpaloo’s refusal to ask candidates to use their resources for the elections and get a refund after the elections.
The aggrieved candidates held a press conference a few days ago where they accused the presidential candidate of taking advantage of them.
At a press conference, Madame Gifty Hammond, on behalf of the candidates, said that Akpaloo promised them financial and logistical resources for his campaign in the run-up to the elections, but did not keep his promise.
He added that their presidential candidate also asked them to apply for loans, after which he will repay them, but Kofi Akpaloo, who reportedly received financial support from the PNP, including vehicles, has since been ignoring his calls and creating the impression that he did not. there is nothing. wrong.
Madame Hammond described her boss’s actions as fraudulent and that he misled them for personal gain.
But in reaction to these accusations, Akpaloo denied having asked them for loans to finance his campaigns.
To him, it makes no sense for them to make such demands, and he wondered why they didn’t join the NDC and the NPP.
He said the candidates want to take advantage of their popularity to stay relevant.
However, Gifty Hammond says the candidate has misled them.
She disputed the candidate’s claims that he used his money for the campaign.
He added that the candidate will not rest until the money he invested is paid.
Gifty Hammond is of the opinion that the candidate has exposed himself to the public as a man who lacks credibility.
He also criticized him for running campaigns for Nana Addo when he should have been campaigning for himself.
