The director of Akira Farms, a multipurpose agricultural entity in the southern Sekyere district of the Ashanti region, Madame Hilda Arku, has expressed her gratitude to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, for the huge investments made in the agricultural sector.

Ms Arku, who received massive government support through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in the areas of supply of agricultural inputs and equipment, says that the interventions of the Ministry have greatly contributed to the development of her agricultural business.

She made these comments when the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, paid a working visit to her farm last Thursday.

“I doubt how I could have cultivated all these thousands of acres of land without support in the form of machine types, I am very grateful to the government and to you Minister for the support.” she noticed.

Located in Adidwan, near Mampong, Akira Farms currently leads the cultivation of mango, cashew, corn, soybeans and sweet potatoes.

The farm also has an external grower scheme, which employs hundreds of young people to cultivate thousands of acres of land through a buyback agreement.

She said, however, that she owes much of her success in agribusiness to enormous support through government-implemented interventions under the Food and Jobs Plantation program.

“Last year, I received improved seeds and fertilizers from the Ministry through the District Agricultural Office; however, the most important support came in the area of ​​mechanization,” he emphasized.

Commenting on the Minister’s visit, he praised the commitment exhibited by Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto from his inception as Minister of the sector, noting that “I have never seen anyone as passionate about the development of farmers and the agricultural sector as you “
