The communications officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has challenged President Akufo-Addo to provide evidence on the Airbus scandal.

Sammy Gyamfi also called for the arrest of NDCC presidential candidate John Mahama if he is guilty of the controversial Airbus scandal.

Speaking at the 19th edition of the NDC press conference on Friday, he said that the Akufo-Addo government has repeatedly accused Mr. Mahama of being a ‘government official’ in the controversial deal, but has not yet asked no legal action.

This, according to him, shows that the government has no evidence to back up its accusation against the NDC leader, but does so only to tarnish his image and pit the electorates against him in the upcoming elections.

“This matter came months ago, look at the way that President Akufo-Addo and the PNP [New Patriotic Party] hates Lord Mahama with passion, do you think if they had proof that [Mahama] you have accepted bribes, will you be participating in this election? Have they reduced it to press conferences?

“It was you [NPP] chosen to speak? Governments do not speak, they act. If you have evidence that John Mahama has done something wrong in the Airbus scandal, release it and investigate, ”he challenged.

Gyamfi later promoted the former president as an incorruptible individual.

According to him, Mr. Mahama has held many public positions and has never had any record of corruption and rot during his service.

He said the PNP is only interested in accusing Mahama of being a government official because of his parochial interest.

“Its [Mr Mahama] Integrity is unassailable, he has been Vice Minister, Minister, Deputy for three terms, Vice President and President and never has a single evidence been presented that shows that he has committed a crime or stolen money in any of the public offices that he has served, ”he said. .
