President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

A dog that tries to bite its cruel owner will be severely tamed! The predicted resignation of the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, from his position has finally been fulfilled thanks to his daring to expose the hands of President Akufo-Addo in the rotten transactions of Agyapa Royalties Ltd on which he published an analysis of risk of corruption and anti -Recent evaluation report of corruption.

There is a long-standing opinion that Amidu was purposely appointed to serve as a poodle to be remotely controlled from the Jubilee House. However, he did not realize this hidden fact and tried to be independent and therefore had to pay the price.

The news flooded the airwaves Monday night reporting the vacation in office of the Special Prosecutor followed by a press release from him and the resignation letter he submitted to the Office of the President. While many were not surprised, others felt vindicated by resignation.

The take on the man himself is on an interesting note, especially after the death of his mentor JJ Rawlings and the critical choices that lie ahead. The revelations of his letter to the president indicate that bad blood is developing between him and Akufo-Addo, resulting from the president trying to use Amidu as a mischievous dog! This is evident in the third paragraph of the SP’s resignation letter:

“The only condition under which I agreed to be nominated as a Special Prosecutor … was your firm promise that I would respect and guarantee the same from your Government for my independence and freedom of action as a Special Prosecutor. So several things have happened.

But your reaction to my letter with reference number OSP / SCR / 12/20/20 AND dated October 16, 2020 … conveying the conclusions and observations of the corruption risk analysis and anti-corruption evaluation of Agyapa Royalties Limited transactions to me convinces beyond a reasonable doubt that you had worked under the mistaken belief that I could occupy the position of Special Prosecutor like your poodle. “

The next paragraph confirms his perception where he stated that the Chief of Staff delivered an urgent message from the President instructing Mr. Amidu not to do anything with the report. Mr. Amidu felt this was a clear attempt to prevent him from taking further action against the corrupt members of the president’s family accused in the report.

Obviously, the president also feared that any further action by the SP would reveal his own involvement in the shameful corrupt deal and cause great discontent in his ailing government, which faces rejection from the electorate in the upcoming general election.

Developments on the anti-corruption front, undermining any success in the exercise, have revealed that President Akufo-Addo is not interested in fighting corruption. This explains his clear elimination of corruption scandals in his government since 2017 and the expulsion of the auditor general. With the resignation of the SP, the road is now clear for the Akufo-Addo sakawa gang to hasten the final attack on their long day of robbing the state.
