On Tuesday, October 6, the Onitsha Seaport was put into service and is now operational. Photos and videos of downloadable containers have appeared online.
Presidential aide, Tolu Ogunlesi said;
“The plan is to move containers from Lagos & Onne Ports to Onitsha by barge. For now I think what is being done is testing. You must first run a pilot test, evaluate efficiency, troubleshoot, etc., before implementing all operations. But if it works as planned it will be a BFD !! “

He continued:
“So someone just pointed out to me that on the Maersk website, Onitsha is now available as a final destination port. A ship leaving Shanghai on October 10 (this Saturday) has Onitsha as its terminal port (arrival on December 2, 2020) ”.
